How do I connect to databases using Microsoft
Frontpage?
The Database Connector Wizard enables you to create and/or edit IDC files quickly without having to use a text editor and know the syntax of the file. The wizard automatically comes up when you attempt to edit an existing IDC file or when you create a new one.
Can I create subwebs in my website?
In order to be able to create subwebs you must have rootweb access. The only way you have rootweb access is if you have your own domain. If you do have a domain name and a root web you are allowed to create subwebs within your web site.
How do I add a file for visitors to download from my FrontPage web?
Adding a file for downloading is easy!
First you must add the file to your FrontPage web. In the FrontPage Explorer, open the web that will contain the file, choose Folder View, and open the folder that will contain the file in your web (you might not want to put downloadable files in the top level of your web... consider creating a new directory called "/downloads" to hold these files).
Next, in Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder that holds the file. Drag the file from the Windows Explorer folder to the FrontPage Explorer folder. This will copy the file into your web so FrontPage knows about it and can manage it within your web.
Now create a link to the file. Open the page in the FrontPage Editor that will contain the file download, write a line of text describing the file (it's a good idea to include the download size also), then highlight the text and click the Link button (or choose Edit/Hyperlink from the menu). In the Hyperlink dialog, choose the Current FrontPage Web tab, browse to the file, highlight it, and click Okay. The file will now be uploaded automatically along with your HTML and image files whenever you Publish your web to the server. When a visitor clicks on the link in their browser, it will trigger a "Open or Save?" dialog, and they can do a File Save/As to download the file to any directory on their machine.
